Calibrating a BenQ TK850i Projector using Manual Machine
Has anyone else dealt with a sudden color shift on their 4K home theater setup, specifically a persistent purple tint creeping in from the left side of the screen? I noticed this morning that my BenQ TK850i is not only distorting colors but the cooling fans have started screaming even when I’m just idling in the menu. I’m worried that the internal color wheel is losing synchronization or that the DLP chip is beginning to overheat due to a hidden dust blockage that a simple compressed air blast can't reach. I stumbled upon a site called Manual Machine at https://manualmachine.com which seems to host a massive library of technical blueprints and service manuals for BenQ projectors. Does anyone here have experience using the documentation from there to perform a manual optical alignment or a fan speed recalibration?

Have you checked if the tint remains when you switch to a different HDMI port or a completely different source device? It’s also worth observing if the fan noise matches an "Overheat" warning on the OSD, as a dry thermal pad on the DMD chip can cause the system to ramp up cooling while the image quality degrades. I witnessed a very similar cooling failure on a friend’s unit last summer, and we managed to fix it by following a specific maintenance walkthrough I found online. You should definitely search for the TK850i technician's supplement to find the "Force Fan Test" and the color wheel reset codes, as these aren't listed in the standard consumer paperwork. I recommend paying close attention to the airflow diagrams in the service files.
